Production update #9
about 6 years ago – Sat, Apr 21, 2018 at 01:45:30 AM

Hi all, welcome to our weekly update! Here at Novo things are continuing to progress, especially now we have the beta units here to test, program and generally develop.

First a brief update on shipping. We know a few of our backers selected to also receive Climair units on Backerkit to control their Air Conditioning units. With summer arriving we will be fulfilling these orders in May and will be contacting you to arrange this. These will ship with our V1 SuperHub, which can be upgraded free of charge to our SuperHub2 when you receive your valves in September.

In development, we've continued to expand on the features in the app for release. We've updated our control screens to simplify navigation, added in instructional wizards to aid with connection, and included personalisation such as camera integration to enable you to change the backgrounds. With these personalisation aspects, we take your privacy seriously here at Novo so all changes have been designed with GDPR regulations in mind, as well as knowledge of how we'd want our own data to be handled. All of these changes have been worked on across our platform, with relevant updates occurring to our SuperHub firmware as well.

On hardware development we're testing testing testing also! With accelerated lifetime testing ongoing, third party testing and our own internal attempts to break things, we're confident good progress is being made. We've no problems to report, so luckily this section of the hardware update is very brief.

Thanks as always for all your support. It's great to read all your comments and see your interest in Novo. We hope everyone has been enjoying the sun and the arrival of summer. Please as always get in touch with any questions!

Production update #8
about 6 years ago – Fri, Apr 13, 2018 at 11:47:32 PM

Hi all!

Welcome to our second post of the week as promised! This update will focus on our hardware developments and provide a shipping update as well.

Firstly we'd like to announce some good news:

Our first 100 beta units have arrived! We've already assembled quite a few of them.

As you can see, we've received our first pre-production 100 units. These will be tested, in some cases to destruction, and then tested again! With our updated software and these 100 units we're close to being ready to finalise our production order. These beta units also include all of our plastics revisions and latest design moulds.

Delivery Timeline

We know this is the part that many people have been asking for, so we're providing a detailed timeline of our activity until the day you receive your products. While within this timeline minor details may change, your delivery date will not. We're so confident of this, for every week we are late we guarantee to refund you 10% of your Kickstarter backing. 5 weeks late, 50% refunded and you still receive your valves.

We understand this is a delay, and we apologise for this. We appreciate your support over the summer months when hopefully heating is less of a concern. We'll continue to provide updates, photographs and keep everyone up to date. Any specific requests, please let us know!

Production Update #7
about 6 years ago – Mon, Apr 09, 2018 at 11:31:00 PM

Hi all and we hope you've had a great Easter break!

This is the first of two updates this week. We've had a busy period over Easter, focusing on the key areas of our software and our hardware. With some component deliveries expected in the next couple of days, this update will focus on our software development, with our end of week update focusing on the hardware.

With the team taking limited time off over Easter, we decided to use the time to finalise the app based side of the Novo system. As you may know, the Novo cloud and app is already functional and available, but we wanted to make sure we offered the best user experience possible and get all our promised features such as zonal control implemented.

With the aspects such as the remote, scheduling and weather integration being carried forward from the pre-existing app, we instead focused on ensuring a clean graphical design, an improved on-boarding process and clear prompts throughout the app. Hopefully this selection of images demonstrates our revised style and we hope you agree it's both eye-catching and simple!

Within the app itself therefore we've implemented a number of the key features that are crucial to a successful product. From top left these include:

Presets: Editable presets allow you to quickly select how your home responds to your needs, in addition to our geolocation and scheduling options.

Dashboard: The dashboard provides you with a quick overview of your home, with aggregate data by zone.

Room View: Want more detail? Simply click on a zone in the dashboard and you can see what's going on by device.

Devices: If you want to see each device individually, the devices tab allows for a simple and easy interface with a sortable list.

All these updates have been supported with software and firmware updates on the Cloud and hardware. We've updated our firmware for the SuperHub through an OTA upgrade, improving onboarding speeds and latency.

Keep an eye out later in the week for our hardware update, which will include more development photos as we think this is a great way to keep people up to date! Any questions or comments on the app design? Please just comment!
